Areas of application
BORNIT® Solidificator (SM3) is mainly used for silicification or solidification, resp., of porous or sanding mineral construction materials, and thus to avoid spalling, as well as for increasing surface strength and resistance to abrasion. BORNIT® Solidificator (SM3) can also be used as a substrate-solidifying primer, e.g., underneath PMBC and BORNIT® Profi Hybrid 2K (with clean tap water at a mixing ratio of 1:1). The product is also used as component 3 of the BORNIT® Basement Coating System upon inside waterproofing of moist basements.

Type and properties
BORNIT® Solidificator (SM3) is a deep-penetrating silicification preparation with a hydrophobic and substrate-solidifying effect. BORNIT® Solidificator (SM3) is solvent-free and therefore not environmentally harmful. The active agents penetrate deep into the substrate and react into water-insoluble compounds. Thus, the pores are clogged and permanently waterproofed with constantly progressing mineralisation.

Advantages
  • easiest handling
  • very good penetration

Surface
The substrate must be clean, firm and free from separating substances (oils, greases, old coatings). It should be dry or only slightly moist.

Processing
As component 3 of the BORNIT® Basement Coating System, BORNIT® Solidificator (SM3) is applied undiluted in one working step using a roller or brush.
As a substrate-solidifying primer, e.g., underneath PMBC, the solidificator has to be used diluted (with clean tap water at a mixing ratio of 1:1). For porous concrete, two-time application is required. Application of subsequent layers, e.g., PMBC, is possible after approx. 24 hours of thorough drying. Upon processing within the BORNIT® Basement Coating System, observe the respective product datasheet.
The product is alkaline. Therefore, clinker bricks or other sensitive surfaces (e.g., glass) must be effectively covered prior to application.
Application is possible at temperatures above +5 °C.
