areas of application
Subsequent interior basement seals, manhole seals and all other seals against non-pressing and pressing water from the negative and positive side.
BORNIT® Water Stop (SM2) is also suitable for the external sealing of cracks with injection resins before injection.
BORNIT® Water Stop (SM2) is also suitable for the external sealing of cracks with injection resins before injection.
type and properties
The process consists of 3 products:
BORNIT® Slurry (SM1):
is a fast-setting mineral sealing slurry with high resistance to aggressive groundwater and strong water pressure.
BORNIT® Water Stop (SM2):
is a highly reactive powder with an extremely short solidification time. Flow points are sealed with the dry powder within a few seconds.
BORNIT® Solidificator (SM3):
is a water-thin reaction liquid for silicification. The active ingredients penetrate deep into the subsoil and react to form water-insoluble compounds. Thus, the pores are clogged and permanently sealed by the ever advancing mineralization.
Leaky areas and individual points are quickly and easily sealed with the method, even if the water is flowing. The success is immediately visible. The seal is made from the negative side, i.e. against the water pressure.
The process combines the following effects:
1. Sealing of places against pressing, flowing water.
2. Surface sealing against pressing, flowing water.
3. Silicification of the waterproofing layer and the leaky building material, so that it is compacted and becomes part of the waterproofing.
4. The waterproofing is permanent as it becomes an integral part of the structure.
5. Simple, safe processing and inexpensive.

advantages
- easiest handling
- good adhesive properties
- economical and cost-saving, as there is less equipment, material and labor
surface
A stable, firm and clean subsurface is the prerequisite for a permanent, secure seal. Paints and plasters that contain lime (including hydraulic ones), screeds etc. must be removed down to the solid building material (masonry / concrete). If possible, scratch out the joints in the masonry approx. 2 mm deep.
Before starting work, thoroughly wet dry surfaces several times. Holes and open joints should be filled with BORNIT® Sealing Mortar.
A load-bearing plaster made of BORNIT® Sealing Mortar must be applied to aerated concrete, lightweight and large blocks (e.g. Poroton) before using the BORNIT® Basement Coating System.
unsuitable substrates:
- lime-based plasters
- paints and coatings
- gypsum building materials

processing
Preparatory work
In the case of flow point sealing: Rub in BORNIT® Water Stop firmly until the water stops.
For surface sealing: Sealing the flow points alone is often not sufficient, as the water looks for other paths and then re-enters at other points. To achieve dry rooms, the surfaces should be treated as follows:
1. Mix as much BORNIT® Slurry with water to a plastic, creamy and spreadable mass that can be processed within 5 minutes. Spread the sludge onto the surface with a brush or a stiff brush (consumption per m² approx. 2.5 kg).
2. Then immediately rub dry BORNIT® Water Stop into the still fresh, wet sludge by hand until the surface is dry. Wear smooth rubber gloves (consumption per m² approx. 1.5 kg).
3. Without waiting, spread BORNIT® Solidificator with a clean brush (use approx. 0.5 kg per m²).
4. Immediately afterwards and after about 30 minutes repeat step 1 (consumption 0.5 to 1.0 kg per m²). To avoid tension, the layer should not be applied thicker than 4 mm.
Aftercare
Apply an adhesive plaster to the wall area after 24 hours at the earliest. This is to be made as follows:
Dilute BORNIT® Stick Emulsion with water in a ratio of 1: 2 and mix with restoration plaster to a sprayable consistency. The spray grout should be applied approx. 50 % covering. Apply the hydrophobic and heat-insulating renovation plaster after at least another 24 hours. The floor is painted with a bonding bridge made from BORNIT® Stick Emulsion (diluted 1 : 2 with water) mixed with a cement / sand mixture (1 : 4). Then apply a cement coat.
Elastic sealing of joints and cracks
Proceed as follows to seal cracks, joints, pipe penetrations and other moving parts in the course of the interior sealing.
1. Before the surface waterproofing is carried out, the cracks, connections or joints in the masonry or concrete must be chiseled: width approx. 4 cm or more if strong movements or strong water pressure are to be expected.
2. The BORNIT® Basement Coating System is also pulled through the mortised joints in the course of the surface sealing. In this way a dry surface is achieved.
3. At least 24 hours after the BORNIT® basement waterproofing, the side flanks of the joint (only this one) are painted with BORNIT® Concrete Primer.
4. After about 3 hours, the joints must be completely filled with BORNIT® Cold Joint Sealant. Any subsequent movements in the subsurface are elastically absorbed by BORNIT® Cold Joint Sealant. Water can no longer penetrate.
