Areas of application
BORNIT® Sealing Mortar is used for executing the connecting fillets between walls and floors in basement construction, for producing sealing plasters, as a waterproof masonry and joint mortar as well as a repair mortar for concrete and masonry.
Adding stick emulsion results in a very good repair mortar for concrete and screed surfaces.
Adding stick emulsion results in a very good repair mortar for concrete and screed surfaces.
Type and properties
BORNIT® Sealing Mortar is a waterproof ready-mix mortar with very good adhesion to the substrate. Simply mixing it with water produces a smooth, well-processable thick mortar, which provides high tensile adhesive and strength values after 24 hours already. After thorough hardening, the mortar is waterproof and frost-resistant. BORNIT® Sealing Mortar complies with EN 998-1.
Advantages
- good adhesion to substrates common in construction, also to old structures
- low equipment and material costs and effort
- waterproof and frost-resistant after thorough hardening
Surface
The substrate must be firm, clean and mineral-based.
Processing
Processing recommendations:
Mix 25 kg of sealing mortar into 2.5-2.9 l of water + 1 kg of BORNIT® Stick Emulsion.
Upon processing without the stick emulsion, add 1 litre of water more.
Prior to executing the hollow fillet in the basement area, prime with BORNIT® Slurry SF. Upon surface plastering, we recommend applying a coarse plaster layer beforehand. Apply with respective layer thicknesses using a jointer trowel (for fillets) or a trowel (for surface plastering), resp. The mortar remains processable for about 3 hours.
