Areas of application
BORNIT® Bitumen Coating is a bitumen solution with high penetrating capability and good opacity. BORNIT® Bitumen Coating protects building components with concrete, brick or plaster surfaces against ground moisture.
For bonding enhancement on concrete, masonry or plaster, BORNIT® Bitumen Primer should be used as a primer. BORNIT® Bitumen Coating also adheres well to wood and metal. It is not suitable for application on expanded or extruded polystyrene.

Type and properties
BORNIT® Bitumen Coating is a solvent-containing, spreadable and sprayable, unfilled bitumen-based coating material and is processed cold.

Advantages
  • good opacity with one coating already
  • easiest handling, since manufactured ready for use
  • universally applicable, therefore numerous uses
  • good adhesive properties
  • economical and cost-cutting, due to low equipment and material costs and effort

Surface
The substrate must be dry, clean and grease-free. Loose particles, defective concrete and plaster as well as cracks and holes must be repaired in advance. BORNIT® Bitumen Coating adheres to all substrates common in construction. Use BORNIT® Bitumen Primer as primer.

Processing
BORNIT® Bitumen Coating can be processed at normal temperatures without warming up. Stir up BORNIT® Bitumen Coating prior to processing! The processing temperature (ambient and substrate temperature) should not be below +5 °C and not above +35 °C. In the cold season, store the product at room temperature prior to processing. BORNIT® Bitumen Coating is applied to the substrate with a small or large brush or spray device. Recommended coating sequence: one priming coat with BORNIT® Bitumen Primer and two topcoats with BORNIT® Bitumen Coating.
Do not use in closed rooms!

Consumption
approx 0.4 litres/m² per coat (2 coats recommended)
