Areas of application
BORNIT® Bitumen Emulsion C60BP4-S is used for spraying asphalt surfaces being prepared for the subsequent application of asphalt mixtures. It is used as an adhesion promoter in bonded layers between the asphalt layers. BORNIT® Bitumen Emulsion C60BP4-S is used for construction classes Bk100, Bk32, Bk10, Bk3.2 and Bk1.8.

Type and properties
BORNIT® Bitumen Emulsion C60BP4-S is a special polymer-modified bitumen emulsion with excellent adhesivity and adhesion on dry and also on slightly moist substrates.
BORNIT® Bitumen Emulsion C60BP4-S corresponds to TL BE-StB 15.

Processing
Prior to application of the emulsion, the substrate must be cleaned very thoroughly, since only limited dust penetration is given. Prior to processing, briefly homogenise the product (briefly recirculate it, stir it up or roll the barrel). For better processing, the emulsion must be heated to +40 °C – +60 °C. Heating must be slow and uniform. Local overheating results in thermal damaging of the product.

Upon processing using Maus spraying equipment, the heated emulsion must be processed immediately in order to avoid local overheating.

Apply the bitumen emulsion onto the entire surface of the intensively cleaned area in a uniform manner with the respectively specified quantity using binder spraying equipment (Maus spraying equipment, ramp spraying equipment and the like). Only start applying the asphalt mixture once the emulsion has completely broken down and the emulsion water has completely evaporated. The sprayed surfaces must be blocked off for traffic.

Filling, storage and substrate temperatures: min. +5 °C
Processing temperature: min. +40 °C – max. +60 °C

The pipe systems of the transport and processing vehicles have to be discharged, if applicable, following completion of work. Longer transport of the emulsion must be undertaken with full tanks. In order to avoid foaming of the product, bottom-up filling is to be used for filling or refilling.

If spraying equipment is used for processing, then it must be cleaned immediately after completion of work in order to avoid clogging of nozzles and pipes with bitumen.

For cleaning, please observe the respective regulations of the spraying equipment manufacturer.
BORNIT® Bitumen Emulsion C60BP4-S must not be mixed with bitumen emulsions with other designations or from other manufacturers.

Storage
The product can be stored for 4 weeks. Prior to using or filling the bitumen emulsion, briefly recirculate it. Suitable pumps are, e.g., non-clogging impeller pumps. When spraying directly from barrels, these must be rolled beforehand. BORNIT® Bituminous emulsion C60BP4-S is not frost-resistant!

Disposal note
Only recycle completely empty containers. Material residues can be disposed of according to AVV-ASN: 080410 (waste adhesives and sealants, except for those falling under 080409).
