Areas of application
BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer is used as an adhesion promoter when laying roof and weldable sheetings, especially if a more rapid construction progress is to be achieved by short drying times.
The product adheres well to a wide variety of common building substrates, e.g. plaster, concrete, masonry, metal, bitumen sheets and bitumen-compatible high-polymer roofing sheets.
BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer is mainly used in new construction and renovation for roof and building waterproofing according to the "Flat roof guidelines" of the ZVDH (Central Association of the German Roofing Trade) as well as the "Technical rules - ABC for bitumen membranes" of the vdd (Industry Association for Roofing and Waterproofing Membranes). BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer can be used in- and outdoors for roof and floor surfaces.

Type and properties
BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer is a brush- and sprayable, quick-drying elastomer bitumen primer with improved drying properties. The product does not contain any organic solvents (solvent-free).

BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer meets the requirements (Annex 313 / Items 10.1 and 10.2 – Bitumen-based building products) of the state quality label for sustainable buildings (Quality Label for Sustainable Buildings (QNG)). The label is issued by the German Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Construction.

Advantages
  • very short drying time
  • economical in consumption
  • free from organic solvents (solvent-free)
  • low odor
  • excellent adhesion to many substrates
  • easy processing by brushing, rolling or spraying

Surface
The surface must be clean and free from oil and grease. Loose particles are removed, damaged areas, cracks and holes should be repaired before. Mineral surfaces may be slightly damp, but not wet. Observe when use on metal surfaces necessarily: The surface must be clean, dry and oil- and grease-free. If necessary degrease and roughen the metal.

Processing
BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer will be processed cold. Stir briefly before application.
The primer can be applied to the surface by brush, roller or spray. It is recommend to moisten the mold slightly before processing. Polyamide yarn painting tools have proved their worth.
Clean tools with water immediately after use. BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer may not be processed at + 5°C and above 30°C ambient and object temperature. BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer must never be applied in rain, high humidity (fog) or frost (sensitive to frost!).

Protect the primer from rain and frost until it dries completely. Before laying the weldable sheeting ensure that BORNIT® Speedbit-Primer is completely dry.

The drying time depends on weather conditions, ambient and surface temperature and absorbency of the surface. It is about 10 minutes at 20°C / 50% relative air humidity on absorbent surfaces. On metal surfaces, the drying time may be extended depending on the weather.

Consumption
approx. 0,2 l / m² (depending on the absorbency of the surface)
