areas of application
BORNIT® Injektil 100 is used to subsequently provide horizontal barriers against rising moisture in concrete, masonry and plaster. The product can be applied via non-pressurised, chemical injection as well as via pressure injection.
The structure of the building material must be firm and well preserved, since BORNIT® Injektil 100 does not have any material solidifying properties.
Use of the injection agent is possible up to a degree of moisture penetration of max. 65 % and a max. wall thickness of 0.70 m.

type and properties
BORNIT® Injektil 100 is a thin liquid injection agent based on a water-repellent siliconate.

advantages
  • easiest handling because it is ready to use
  • very good penetration
  • economical and cost-reducing as there is less equipment, material and labor

surface
The building material structure must be solid and well preserved, as BORNIT® Injektil 100 has no building material-strengthening properties.

processing
For chemical injection, BORNIT® Injektil 100 is used undiluted (as delivered). It contains potassium hydroxide and therefore undergoes an alkaline reaction. Therefore, eyes, skin and clothing must be protected from splashes. Sensitive surfaces (e.g. aluminium and glass) can be slightly etched. Immediately remove splashes with a lot of water. Chemical injections are normally inserted at base height (above ground) as well as in the basement area above the pressure and retained water lines.
For the provision of horizontal waterproofing, holes are drilled into the substrate to be treated above the ground or, upon excavation, above the basement floor.
Should fractures, voids or open joints be noticed after drilling the holes, the holes must be filled with BORNIT® Drill Hole Filler, wherein the thin liquid mortar must be pressed in. Prior to thorough hardening (after approx. 30 minutes up to max. 3 hours), the holes must be drilled again.
The distance of the drill-holes depends on the absorbency of the building material. In case of strong absorbency of the material, the distance of the drill-holes can be larger, with lesser absorbency smaller. In principle, however, it should be max. 120 mm. For non-pressurised injection, the drill-hole diameter is approx. 12-16 mm, the drilling angle (inclined from top to bottom) between 45 ° and 30 °. The drill-hole depth should correspond to the wall thickness minus 5 cm.
Remove the drilling dust prior to injection. Walls with a thickness of more than 0.5 m as well as corners should be treated from both sides. In case of higher wall thicknesses, the reaction until the water repellency becomes effective is greatly delayed. Non-pressurised injection is performed using a suitable watering can and always wet in wet until saturation and termination of the absorption of the impregnation agent (depending on the type of masonry) are achieved.
It is likewise possible to impregnate the masonry from dispensing bottles with a spout. For that, smaller drill-hole diameters are sufficient.
For pressure injection, which should preferably be performed in the low-pressure range, the drill-hole diameters depend on the specified packers.

Additional measures
Following execution of a chemical masonry injection against capillary rising masonry moisture, make sure that water cannot penetrate the masonry above the injection area anymore. For that, the plaster must be renewed with the respective necessary substrate pre-treatment and vertical waterproofing of the outer surfaces in contact with the ground. If the plaster is salt-damaged, it should be stripped after the treatment and replaced with renovation plaster. Structurally damaging salts must be neutralised with BORNIT® Anti Sulphate.
The operating principles and procedures are described in WTA data sheet 4-4-04 / D ""Masonry injections against capillary moisture"", including the necessary accompanying measures.

consumption
approx. 20 l per m² of masonry cross-section, depending on moisture content, thickness and condition of the masonry.
