Areas of application
BORNIT® RoadStixx is used for closing of cracks and smaller potholes up to approx. 20 cm in diameter in asphalt and concrete surfaces and for leveling of unevenness on bituminous roof surfaces with an inclination of max. 25°. Since the material can be very easily processed and without a lot of equipment, even the experienced DIYer can use it to undertake repairs on driveways, parking spaces or inner courtyards.

Type and properties
BORNIT® RoadStixx consists of meltable thermoplastic alkyd granules. By heating them to approx. +220 °C, very good adhesion to the old coverings is achieved. Following application, the repaired spots are traversable after a short period and have excellent stability.
BORNIT® RoadStixx can be applied all year long. In case of temperatures below +10 °C, diligent heating and processing are required.
When leveling unevenness on bituminous roof surfaces, the heating of BORNIT® RoadStixx should be done very carefully so as not to damage the substrate.

Advantages
  • easy processing without a lot of equipment
  • traversable and stable after a short period
  • quick-hardening and resilient
  • no need for compaction
  • not sensitive to frost and may be applied at temperatures below 0 °C
  • applicable by one person without a lot of equipment

Surface
The substrate must be free from loose particles, standing water, ice, snow, dirt or any separating agents.

Processing
Heat the cleaned substrate and thus also remove residual moisture. Insert BORNIT® RoadStixx into the crack or pothole, resp., to be filled. Then heat the inserted material uniformly with a gas burner (approx.
+220 °C), until it melts and results in a homogeneous mass. Sprinkle with suitable grit in order to roughen the surface.
In case of possible stickiness of the material in the bag, let the bag drop from max. 50 cm to make BORNIT® RoadStixx pourable.
BORNIT® RoadStixx can be applied in layers. The respective layers should have a thickness of 15 mm, and the overall application thickness should not exceed 50 mm.
Following application, BORNIT® RoadStixx is traversable after approx. 20 minutes.

Consumption
approx. 5 kg / m² per cm of layer thickness
