Areas of application
BORNIT® Hot Sealing Rail is used for flexible and vibration-reducing connections between track bed and road surface for tram tracks as well as for sealing vibration-loaded joints at concrete components in building construction and civil engineering at transition structures.

Type and properties
BORNIT® Hot Sealing Rail is based on polymer-modified bitumen as well as mineral and highly elastic special fillers. It is a fusible, hot workable sealing compound, characterised by high elasticity and good vibration resistance.
BORNIT® Hot Sealing Rail has good adhesive properties at the substrate, high heat and cold resistance, and is water-impermeable, ageing-resistant as well as not sensitive to water and de-icing salts.

Surface
The joints must be dry and clean. Oil and grease residues as well as loose particles must be removed. Joints must be blown out with compressed air.

Processing
Prior to filling, the joint flanks must be treated with BORNIT® Hot Compound Primer or BORNIT® Hot Compound Primer Spray in any case. The packaging must be peeled off from the compound, the compound chopped up and placed in the melting container.
A maximum melting temperature of +180 °C must be observed, and the mass must be kept in motion using an agitator, in order to avoid local overheating and setting. Only melt the expected daily requirement, since the properties of the compound might change with repeated melting. Stop pouring the compound should it start to rain!

Storage
The product’s storage period is 12 months. It is necessary to protect the cardboxes from moisture and direct sunlight.

Disposal note
Only recycle empty containers. Material residues can be disposed of in accordance with AVV-ASN: 170302 (bitumen mixtures with the exception of those that come under 170301).
