Areas of application
BORNIT® Anti-Sulphate is used for solidifying and for reducing absorbency of mineral substrates. With its low viscosity, it penetrates deep into the substrate and prevents scaling. It is suitable as a measure for masonry rehabilitation and subsequent basement waterproofing against mortar-destroying salts and efflorescence. It reduces the risk of salt efflorescence occurring again under Renovation Plasters. Furthermore, BORNIT® Anti-Sulphate serves surface hardening of concrete, masonry (joints), plaster (lime and cement plasters) and sandstone.
Type and properties
BORNIT® Anti-Sulphate is a thin-liquid polymer- and silicate-based combination product. Using BORNIT® Anti-Sulphate, the water-soluble, mortar-decomposing salts, such as sulphates and chlorides, are inactivated by enclosing them, and thus converted into insoluble or poorly soluble, resp., compounds, so that they cannot cause any destruction anymore. With its solidifying effect and hydrophobic properties, the chemical and mechanical resistance of mineral construction materials is increased, and the re-occurrence of salt efflorescence is avoided. Not suitable for gypsum substrates.

Surface
The mineral substrate must be clean, firm and free from separating substances, oils and greases. Voids and depressions must be removed. Masonry must be fully grouted. The substrate must be moistened prior to application. Standing water must be removed. Dusty and salt-damaged substrates must be primed with BORNIT® Basic Primer. Rigid mineral sealing slurries are not capable of bridging crack formation. Therefore, it must be ensured that no crack movements occur in the substrate.
Processing
BORNIT® Anti-Sulphate can be brushed on and sprayed on. During the hardening phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not drop below 0 °C. Salts migrating to the surface during the hardening period must be removed using brushes.

As a deep-penetrating primer approx. 100 – 130 g/m². In case of highly absorbent substrates, consumption could also double, for more exact determination, prepare test surfaces at the respective structure on site.

Storage
Can be stored for 12 months in the original sealed container, cool and frost-free.
Disposal note
Only recycle completely empty containers. Material residues can be disposed of according to AVV-ASN: 060299 (used alkaline solutions (lyes)).
