areas of application
BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating is suitable for the initial coating as well as for maintenance and renovation of roofing membranes, welded membranes (except polymer bitumen membranes) and other bituminous coverings. BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating is also used as a protective layer directly after the roof covering has been laid. BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating also protects building components with concrete, brick or plaster surfaces against ground moisture and adheres well to wood and metal. It is not suitable for application on expanded or extruded polystyrene.

type and properties
BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating is a solvent-containing, spreadable and sprayable, unfilled bitumen-based coating. BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating is processed cold and has a high penetrating capability.

advantages
  • good opacity with one coating already
  • easiest handling, since manufactured ready for use
  • universally applicable, therefore numerous uses
  • good adhesive properties
  • economical and cost-cutting, due to low equipment and material costs and effort

surface
The substrate must be dry, clean and grease-free. BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating adheres to all substrates common in construction. For heavily weathered and chalking, mineral substrates, prime with BORNIT® Bitumen Primer.

processing
BORNIT® Bitumen Roof- and Isolation Coating is ready for use and must be stirred before application! During application, ensure that the ambient and substrate temperature does not exceed +30 °C! In the cold season, store the product at room temperature prior to processing. Two coats are recommended.

consumption
approx. 0.4 l/m² per coat (2 coats recommended)
